GaNo Optoelectronics Inc. is a spin-off high-tech company from Nanjing University, focusing on developing and producing next generation high sensitivity ultraviolet (UV) sensors, application modules, as well as offering technical consulting services related to UV sensing. GaNo Optoelectronics was established in 2013 with its headquarter and R&D center located at Nanopolis Suzhou, China. The core team of GaNo Optoelectronics has strong R&D capability and rich experience in semiconductor device manufacturing. The mission of GaNo Optoelectronics is to develop world-class UV sensing devices, leading to perfect solutions for highly sensitive and accurate UV detection.

GaNo Optoelectronics is committed to developing and producing high performance UV sensing devices based on wide-bandgap semiconductors, which have drawn world-wide R&D interest in recent years. Wide-bandgap semiconductors, such as GaN and SiC, have many intrinsic material advantages, such as large bandgap energy, high thermal conductivity, high electron saturation velocity and chemical stability, making them suitable to be developed as backbone material for energy-efficient high frequency and high power devices as well as optical sensing devices working specifically in UV band. GaNo Optoelectronics has completed the qualification of a device processing line and a high standard device testing lab. Through these efforts, GaNo Optoelectronics is a leading company in China, which offers mass supply of high performance GaN and SiC UV sensing products with various packaging types.

The UV sensors produced by GaNo Optoelectronics have the characteristics of high responsivity, low dark current, and fast response speed, resulting in significantly higher cost performance compared with similar products on the market. These UV sensors have key applications in environmental monitoring, UV curing, chemical/bio-agent detection, food/water/air sterilization, water quality monitoring, and flame detection.

R&D Strength

GaNo Optoelectronics Inc. is proud of its solid R＆D strength, having a technical team composed of a Yangtze River Scholar of Nanjing University, three Ph.Ds returning from the U.S., and several senior researchers from industries. The key members have made important accomplishment in the field of semiconductor materials and optoelectronic devices, having accumulated rich product development experience in top companies such as GE, JDSU, IMEC and EMOCRE. The team of GaNo Optoelectronics has engaged in the research and development of high-performance ultraviolet (UV) sensors based on wide-bandgap semiconductor materials from late 1990s. After years of practice and technology development, they have not only made achievements recognized by international peers in basic research field, but also established a complete set of intellectual properties (IPs) with more than 30 key patents. Besides open IPs, the GaNo team also owns their proprietary technology in the form of many “know-hows”.

Under the support of governmental investment and external financing, GaNo Optoelectronics has completed the construction of a device processing line as well as a high-standard device testing lab, owning full capability in the areas of wafer growth, material analysis, device fabrication, and device testing and sorting. So far, GaNo Optoelectronics has successfully developed state-of-the-art high performance UV sensing chips based on wide-bandgap GaN and SiC semiconductors, which have been supplied in large volume for 5+ years.

Besides, GaNo Optoelectronics has maintained a long-term, in-depth and extensive cooperation with several major R&D platforms in China, such as "Key Lab of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices of Jiangsu Province", "Collaborative Innovation Center of Solid-state Lighting and Energy Saving Electronics", and "The National Collaborative Innovation Center of Artificial Microstructure Science and Technology". These platforms can provide more comprehensive technical support in the areas of material growth, device processing, and physical analysis.
